What are registered trademarks?
Any sign which can be represented graphically, and which is capable of distinguishing the goods or services of one undertaking from another. Examples includes: - a word, phrase, logo, 3 dimensional object, smell or sound.
Requirements for validity
- Valid for ten years, but can be renewed for a fee and therefore can last forever.
- Can be revoked if not used for 5 years.

- ™ or * shows that a mark is your trademark, but is possibly not registered A registered mark may only be used by the registered owner or licensee.
Why have a trademark?
